To be a woman

Lucky if born, comes to life,
Born strong, giving birth is her right.

Even today, as she walks,
Household chores, are her tasks.

Born in disparity, raised in trench,
A girl knows what it’s like to be hurt and vent.

I want the love, the feeling you have,
For my brother, even if they don’t care.

This is, the window of opportunity,
To give love as you want, as it’s your baby.

Compromise, is what we are taught,
Much before, ABCD and what not.

Give and share, never expect,
Don’t think so much, you are better this way.

Indecisive, by force,
She keeps calm, till she realised.

Don’t forget, the goddess,
She can always revive.

Not just men, sometimes even women,
Fail to understand, what it’s like to be a woman.

The bald chick

I was born with beautiful hair,
Strong long, no reason to care,
Was always sure to have had,
Hair on head, longer than I ever had.

As I grew, didn’t the hair,
I grew strong, they lost their flare,
I was a grown up, bothered about my looks,
Soon I could see, a bald look.

Some are lucky, some are not,
Sooner than I thought, wider got the bald,
Less hair on my head, more on the floor,
Shampoo lost its will, conditioner said no more.

The strong woman in me, scolded me out loud,
Who are you bothered about? Yourself or everyone about?
I always took charge, of everything around,
Except for me, I overlooked my own.

One day, I went rouge,
Let my skin breathe, let them all go,
For the first time, I saw myself,
Exposed I felt, with no hair.

Tears trickled, down my cheeks,
Not cause I lost them, but I leaped,
Today I saw, who I was,
The bald chick, a new world began.

Tu alis ya jagat, ek olakh nirman karayla,

Ek mulgi kay karu shakte, he siddha karayla.

Punyanagrit janmalis, apli avad jopaslis,

Sukhani nandlis, pan swatahla nahi visarlis.

Lahanpanche khel, motthepanchi vasana,

Jayantachi saath, ketki sah nivas.

Tujhya manatli tivra iccha, sakar kelis,

Ramala naman karun, himalaya ghathlas.

Tujhya charni amche naman, tula amche vandan,

Pudhchya piddhinna, hovo tujha satat margadarshan.

Dedicated to my mother’s friend – the first woman to cycle from Kanyakumari to Leh in 35 days!

Baggage claim

We all have moments which we hope, could be erased from our lives,
We think we are strong, and can move on keeping the baggage aside.

It’s such a shame what the human think, they are capable of,
Not everyone is that lucky, to forget what they encountered.

As much as you try you can only push back, till the time you can’t take it anymore,
Eventually, you like it or not you have to tackle it once more.

It’s better to drop the bag while it is filled,
Before you fall for it again,
Grab the opportunity while it sticks, before it’s an empty station again.

As much as we do either, the baggage still remains,
We may empty the contents, but the label is there to stay.

Nimbu Mirchi

Teekha banta hai Mirch see, and nimbu ke Bina swaad nahi ata,
Nimbu mirch ke chatke Bina, khane ka maza hi nahi ata,
Jawani main bebas na hue, to Zindagi main kuch raas nahi ata

Ek taraf hai woh Chand, na dekho to sokoon nahi ata,
Dusri taraf hai woh Chand, Jo dikhe to din raat karaar nahi ata,
Jawani main bebas na hue, to Zindagi main kuch raas nahi ata

Kahe kaviyatri Rajnigandha, sirf saans lene se jiya nahi jata,
Ghalti Kar na seekhe, use padhake sikhaya nahi jata,
Jawani main bebas na hua, to Zindagi main kuch raas nahi ata

The untouchable

There was a man, who cleaned the streets,
Gathered the trash, lived in bleak,
Trying to make our lives better, with no gain notable,
While doing a job so Noble, he was considered untouchable

She was dark, stinky and blue,
She cleaned the washroom, for others to use,
While helping others, maintain their hygiene,
She was considered untouchable and dirty

She was a victim, of a heinous crime,
Touched against her will, she couldn’t help but cry,
More than hoping for her better life, her family denied,
Untouchable she was treated, she succumbed to her harsh life

She was married to a wealthy man, but lived in slums,
She did not do any chores, filthy to none,
She was clean, educated and a healthy human,
Her vicinity made her untouchable for others

Under the sunshine

Under the sunlight, everything shines,
Before it dies, a glorious right
It feels wonderful, under the sunshine,
On the bright side, flashes of light

look at the flower, it’s so peaceful,
It blooms with the sun, and dies with it too,
The sun gives power to shine, Also the one to takes it from you,
Be good to it, it lives within you too

Sometimes I wonder, why is the sun round,
Is it just a coincidence, or bound,
After pondering at that thought, for a while,
In my mind I concluded, it’s the circle of life

If it gives life, and takes it too,
If it let’s you grow, make you weak too,
Remember it’s there, as much as you run away,
Tan & skin burns, are there to stay

As long as it shines, one will affect,
It’s your perspective that matters, forget the rest
Look at the change, as a second chance to revive,
Rejuvenate and live, relive till you die
